Miss Abigail has a collection of over 1,000 classic advice books, spanning from 1822 to 1978 and covering a variety of topics, from love and romance to etiquette and charm. The collection sparked the idea for this site, then a book, Miss Abigail's Guide to Dating, Mating, and Marriage, which has inspired an Off-Broadway production of the same name!

Some posts are in the form of questions ~ from real people with real concerns, though quite frankly, they aren’t necessarily in the “life’s most important” category. But I hope that the answers ~ obtained by thorough searching of books on my shelves ~ provide some assistance, or just plain fun, to all who read. Mixed in with the Qs & As are also selected excerpts that have tickled my fancy over the years, some influenced by personal experiences, others by news events at the time, and others in the “just because” category.
